Unless you’ve been living under a rock this year, you’ll have noticed that Real Madrid haven’t quite been performing to the levels we’ve come to expect. The Galacticos currently sit in 3rd position in the League Table and although at first glance that doesn’t seem. Too bad they’re still 12 points off league leaders Barcelona.
We all knew that problems would arise when their main man Cristiano Ronaldo left the club to join Juventus in the Summer. However, we didn’t think it would have such a monumental effect on the club. The club has suffered losses to teams they should have been beating this season especially with the calibre of players they have available.
Their most recent and most notable defeat came a few weeks when they faced Ajax at home in the Champions League and ended up losing 4-1! This was serious humiliation for a team that had been able to retain the title for 3 years running. So much so that the fans have begun to turn against their own players such as Wales winger Gareth Bale.
What’s next for Real Madrid?
It’s no secret that the club needs to think about making some changes to get back on track. It looks like the club is preparing to make some big money signings this summer in order to once again be able to perform at the very best level in football.
The recent reappointment manager Zinedine Zidane won’t be looking to tarnish his fantastic record with the club by replicating a poor performance next season too. The ex-France international would only have accepted the job if the club had offered him a large transfer budget to spend over the summer.
Ideal Real Madrid summer targets
Paul Pogba – After a poor start to the season at United under ex-manager Jose Mourinho, Pogba looked sure for an exit from the Red Devils. However, with Solskjaer taking the club in a new direction successfully there may be more chance of Pogba remaining at the club he currently captains. Solskjaer has said he wants to build his team around Pogba to convince him to stay and I feel that it will probably come down to whether or not United secure a top 4 finish this year and in turn a Champions League Spot.
Kylian Mbappe – Tipped to replace Messi and Ronaldo as the world’s best. Already winning multiple league titles and a World up the young Frenchman is living up to his hype. Currently playing his football for French giants PSG it’s undebatable that it would cost Real Madrid some serious money in order to convince the League 1 Champions to part with him. However, Mbappe would certainly bring some attacking flair to the Bernabeu and with him not even being 21 yet he could be their star man for years to come.
Eden Hazard – Another player we’ll mention as the 28-year-old Belgian has supposedly been a long-time transfer target for the club. He would be the ideal replacement for Ronaldo playing on the LW. However, the team currently has youngster Vinicius Junior who has been tipped for great things who also plays in the same position.
