Struggling Premier League side Manchester United currently sit 12th in the league after dropping points to teams who on paper they should be beating. Something needs to change at United and although Ole Gunnar Solskjær made some important signings over the summer it’s not been enough to breed life into a flat united side.
One signing that could make a difference is Tottenham hotspurs Christen Eriksen who United were reportedly heavily considering during the summer. One thing led to enough and United didn’t manage to get their man, this could be due to a number of reasons such as him holding out for a move to Real Madrid or simply wanting to play champions league football.
However, it’s reported that Ole hasn’t given up on his man and although Man United are linked with every player under the sun, Eriksen could be just the type of player they need. The Norwegian center-attacking midfielder is currently in the last year of his contract at Spurs and could offer a lot of value if united were to convince him to join their ‘project’ as they’d probably get him for a good price.
Last season in the Premier League he scored 8 and assisted 12 in 35 appearances for the Spurs and offers a lot of attacking options most important creativity with great dribbling and passing which help his team during build-up play. This is the type of player United could do with as their midfield is in dire need of improvement.
United still in the running for Eriksen
It’s said that Ole Gunnar Solskjær will be looking to try and persuade Eriksen away from a struggling Spurs as they’ve also had an unimpressive start to the season. Although United could probably get Eriksen for a good price they’d have to make up for it by offering him some extremely attractive wages ultimately meaning he could still cost the club a fair amount,
Who knows if the reports are true but one things for sure Manchester United could do a lot worse than signing Cristian Eriksen in January and it may give them the spark they need to press for top 6 or even achieve Europa League glory.
